The canine orthopedic
surgeon looked serious. “He’s 16, blind,
deaf and has a heart murmur.” He shook
his head, “It’s a serious operation – we’ll need a bone graft from his shoulder
– and, with his age and small size, there’re no guarantees - we could lose him
during surgery.
“There’ll
be a canine cardiologist and anesthesiologist
assisting. Recovery will
be 8 weeks ~ his foot may not heal. It
could run $3,000 … or more.”
He
looked very serious.
“What
if we just leave the cast on?” I asked.
“That
approach could yield a better result, should you choose it.”
Was
he serious?
