Fee For Service

Fee For Service

The canine orthopedic surgeon looked serious.  “He’s 16, blind, deaf and has a heart murmur.”  He shook his head, “It’s a serious operation – we’ll need a bone graft from his shoulder – and, with his age and small size, there’re no guarantees - we could lose him during surgery.

“There’ll be a canine cardiologist and anesthesiologist assisting.  Recovery will be 8 weeks ~ his foot may not heal.  It could run $3,000 … or more.”

          He looked very serious.

“What if we just leave the cast on?” I asked.

“That approach could yield a better result, should you choose it.”

          Was he serious?
