Grateful

Grateful

Daily she drives up & gets a latte - $4.51.  “Keep the change.”  She is so fat she barely fits in her car.  Duct-taped window broken, she opens the door to pay me.
We always joke around; I tell her I miss her on my days off.  When she smiles, her teeth are black-green decayed.  She wears a blue smock embroidered with sunshine & Walmart.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” she hoists her drink, “You really make my day.”
I get to treat her like a queen for a few minutes every morning. I am grateful.

  1. The most viewed, the most often commented on, the most popular story so far... I thought it was worth repeating.
Most comments follow this line... 'I'm not sure which side you're on. Are you sarcastic or sincere? Is it a blast aimed at Starbucks?'
    What do you think?

  2. Very interesting. Truly one of those "in the eye of the beholder" pieces. As an optimist, I choose to view this as drive-through therapy at the cost of $4.51 per day, which averages out to be about $112.75 per month - way below the going rate! She has cleverly figured out a cost effective way to meet her desperate need for positive human interaction, boost her self esteem, and satisfy her caffeine addiction without having to get out of her vehicle. Ingenious really.
